Does anyone know what a good grocery store price for beef brisket is? It's advertised at Dominicks for $3.99 a lb, but I don't know if this is a good price becuase I've never bought it before. I'm going to make some yummy slow cooked brisket for sandwiches.

  1. I think you means it's FOR SALE at Dominick's for $3.99/lb... that is a terrible price!

Brisket is about half fat; you just know that going in.  So don't pay 4 bucks a pound for fat!

A good price is anywhere from $1.29/lb to $1.99/lb.  If you get lucky, you may still find it for 99 cents/lb, but those days are about over with.

  2. Nowadays, i would say that is a normal price. I usually smoke a brisket or two every summer. not this year. no ribs either. Meat prices are through the roof.

  3. I just bought a brisket of about 5 lbs. and paid $1.69 per pound for it here in Fort Smith, Arkansas.  (at a CV's Family Foods chain store)

But remember, as was mentioned above, you're paying for a lot of fat that you'll be discarding....it's a pain, sorta like buying a rack of ribs for BBQ...go for the lowest price cause you know half of what you're getting is bone that will be thrown out...
