Hey, I turned 21 back in January and still haven't gotten around to hitting up the club/bar scene... I've been to a few bars/pubs in my area, but no one my age really hangs out at those places. Does anyone know where there's a good bar where people in their early 20's hang out? I'm sick of going to places where EVERYONE is twice my age. It doesn't even really have to be a bar, just anywhere people my age hang out... I work alot, so I don't get out much, I don't know where the good places are! Thanks!

  1. in nova you need to find a place LOCAL to you.the best bars are neighborhood joints.you dont want to be drinking and driving and going to big box dance clubs.local bars remember you and are likely to buy you a drink.........and they make sure you dont overdrink, which some ppl your age do.if you are in fairfax co,find a billiard cafe(ex;fast eddies-bungalow billiards)they have interactive things to do.......watch sports, play games,dj music, some places have bands.there are always plenty of girls at those places too.i live in centreville and tend bar locally.but i am familiar with all of the area.feel free to add detail to your question and i can add more info for you-regarding your location

  2. Arlington area has a lots of bars.  (Irish bars, pool bars, indio music, etc.)

  3. Get into DC and go to Adam's Morgan.  If you are hanging with your buddies Ned's Atomic Billiards is great!  There a plethora of bars / clubs to hang in the area.  None too old and an appropriate ratio between the sexes!

  4. Carpool, Bailey's, and Rock Bottom

    Club IOTA

    Birchmere

There's always going to be a mix of old and young at these places. If you really want a younger crowd you need to hit the college bars in downtown DC - around Georgtown and GWU.

    Mr. Days

  5. remingtons... cap hill

  6. In Northern Virginia, anywhere along Wilson & Clarendon Blvds in Arlington would be your best bet.  The Courthouse, Clarendon, and Ballston neighborhoods are teeming with 20-somethings eager to hang out.  Depending on what you're looking for, you can pick from:

Ireland's Four Courts - Good Irish pub with live music and separate smoking & non-smoking sides, trivia on Mondays

Gua-Rapo - chic Latin lounge spot, tapas & hookahs

Ragtime - TVs, sports, live music, patio, Golden Tee, Megatouch, Deer Hunter

Whitlow's - Bar/restaurant with live music (recurring theme here), pool, and a pretty popular Sunday brunch, trivia on Sundays

Mr. Day's - big, generic sports bar, lots of Virginia locals here (read: rednecks), but on the weekends it turns into a pretty loud & crowded dance club

Clarendon Ballroom - the closest thing to a real dance club in Arlington, rooftop deck as an added bonus

Clarendon Grill - popular with the yuppie crowd, absolutely packed on the weekends

Iota - small, live music venue for the more laid-back types

Carpool - pool hall of choice in Ballston, clean place, nice tables

Bailey's - inside Ballston Common, HUGE sports bar (used to be a department store!), the place to go if you're trying to catch a game which might not be on anywhere else, also offer pool tables and a shuffleboard table, bar service is a disorganized mess, though

Rock Bottom - inside Ballston Common, if you can make it there on Wednesday before 4:00, you might be able to snag a seat for their $1 pint Happy Hour, after 5:00, it gets packed

That's just some of the bars.  If you're looking for food, too, I wouldn't even know where to begin.  There's more restaurants along that same corridor than you would know what to do with.

    Hope that helps!
