  1. Well go be a hostess somewhere else then.

  2. To be a hostess you should first have experience as a waitress and any place which serves alcohol will probably only hire those over the age of 21.  Stick with your current job because changing jobs frequently does not look good on a resume and can make it difficult later to get hired.  It's also probably not a good idea to try to get a job where your sister is because it seems she does not want you there and that would be very uncomfortable for you.  By the way, there are much worse jobs than Office Max.  Your sister is arguing that you are not old/mature enough to be a hostess and you are proving her correct by  crying about it.

  3. You shouldn't be miserable, jobs are tough enough as it is, especially if you're going to school as well. You're almost 18 and it's your job, I think you should apply to different places and see how the interviews go. But I'm not sure what you mean when you say "a grown up place". Maybe it's just that place that bothers them. Search for different jobs and show your parents how serious you are about getting a better job, one that doesn't stress you out and maybe even pays better.

  4. I don't think any 17 year old should be forced to keep a job she hates.  There's time enough for that when we grow up (LOL).

Apply for that other job.  If you get the offer, your parents' argument that you can't work at a grown up place has no basis.  If the establishment has enough confidence in you to hire you, then they clearly believe you can do the job.

But if the place is dangerous, in terms of its location or clientele, that's a different problem altogether, and your parents have a valid concern.

Is this an either/or choice?  Maybe there is another job that you would like that would be more acceptable to your parents.  Look around, see what's available, and get the applications out there.

  5. In one respect, I agree with your mother n' sister about you not working downtown.  It could be dangerous.

At the same time, as to your present job, I can certainly sympathize with you there.  Because I had a very discriminatory boss 12yrs. ago.  I hated her with a passion.

My one question for you, would be, why would you want to be a hostess?

  6. WOW, who cares it your bissness..........~xoxo ally*

  7. I think do what you want to do it's your life, and for the whole grown up place thing, BUY A CELLPHONE, and use that excuse

  8. I say, do what your HEART desires... not your Brain... which is telling you to be hostess.... hmm....? LISTEN TO YOUR HEART. IT KNOWS BEST :))

    Good luck, girly :)
