Never had good clubs. Always cheap set. Want to get better and get good clubs. Are game improvement irons what I need. I slice/fade and my distance needs to improve. And I really want to enjoy my rounds and shoot well instead of walking thru the heavy rouhg and the woods looking for my ball cursing all the time!!! Also, are lessons gonna help me combined with new clubs? Help!!!

  1. Check out the new Callaway FT Irons.  Amazingly forgiving.  At a more affordable price, many of my students love the Big Bertha irons.

  2. Im in the same market as you,as far as everything youved asked.Ive done alot of research, and ive narowed down to adams gt-500,or if i want the big bertha 08.theres a 300 dollar price differance between the 2,but one of them i will get.

  3. go to a place like Golf Galaxy or a local pro shop and get fitted (length, lie, shaft flex.  Don't focus on brands- focus on what feels good to you.)  This isn't a cure all, but it will give you the best way of putting you into position to do better.

Take a lesson or two (or more).  Maybe it's something fundementally unsound in your swing.  Pick up Gold Digest or Golf Magazine (my favs) and look for things that will help you.

Look at the type of ball you play, also.  You might not be right for a "distance-only" ball, you might benefit from an upgrade, like the Nike Ignite or even the ProV1.

    Keep the (golf) faith!!!

  4. Callaway X20's

  5. A good teacher will help improve your game, Well built fitted clubs will Improve your game. Stay with cavity back type clubs rather than blade type. The right set makeup will improve your game, trade the 2,3,4, irons for hybrid type.  I like Callaway products myself. To each his own but I would not trade my X-20 tour Irons for any club out there. Good luck

  6. The lessons and practice will help more than the new set of clubs. Yes youll probably want those irons as they are more forgiving than the thin blades.
