If so, where was it? How did you arrange this setup... is there a company that rents beach property by the hour? Did you like it? Do you think you could combine the ceremony with a couple cute tents right there on the beach and continue on having the reception there as well? I really want this for my wedding but im not sure if it is possible...

  1. I just got married on the beach June 21st.  I live in South Carolina and my husband and I got married on Folly Beach.  Beach weddings are very popular here.  There are several options for ceremony/reception.  We chose to get married on the beach in front of an ocean front hotel.  We then had the reception inside the hotel.  It's way too hot down here to get married on the beach and have the ceremony outside unless you do a sunset wedding or a wedding in early Spring or late Fall.  I also looked into renting a large rental home and getting married on the beach and having the reception at the house.  It all depends on how many guests you are planning to have.  We had about 120 so that was not an option for us, but with a smaller wedding it's a great idea and I see it all the time!    The problem with outside receptions are the food & cake.  You do not want sand all over your cake or your food and you don't want the heat to destroy the food & cake.  Where do you live?  My husband and I grew up on the East Coast and we love the beach.  I couldn't have imagined doing my wedding anywhere else.  We had a wonderful time and our guests did as well!  Good luck!  If you need any help let me know!

  2. We are getting married in Aptos, California, it will be a bluff that overlooks the Monterey Bay..very pretty view. The setup is based on The Seascape Resort (the venue). They have a day time and night time wedding package to choose from...so that it is not hour by hour...however, if we go over 5 hours, it costs $200/hour!

I love the environment, the overlook of the ocean is breath-taking. We are having the ceremony and cocktail hour outside, no tents, but large umbrellas. I think would also be cute if you wanted to do white tents for the ceremony and reception...as long it is not directly on sand. It might get windy, and guests might not like that. We don't have to worry about sand since it is on a cliff over the sand. If you have any more worries, I'm sure your venue will be able to answer these questions since I'm sure they've handled all types of situations.
