  1. you already do eat meat, you eat fish. and eating a different kind of meat isn't going to make you sick unless like anyone else, you eat a bunch of fatty meat, that will make anyone throw up.

  2. You tell us. Animal flesh is meat and you've been eating it all along. So, if you want to eat other animals go ahead, it won't harm you physically buy it may bother you enough mentally to cause a reaction.

Pescetarians don't save animal lives. They just eat one kind of animal. There's nothing to suggest they eat less animals though. If I choose to eat fish instead of cow or pig or bird, something still dies.

  3. let's get this straight first.....i don't encourage you to give up being pescetarian.  you're saving animals' lives, and that's a great thing.  anyway, i'll give you my experience, because i had a lapse in vegetarianism once.

i went straight into eating meat and got violently sick.....throwing up like crazy and such.  (makes you wonder why we should eat something that can make us that sick if we haven't had it in a while).....

a friend of mine was a vegetarian for around 5 years, and she said that what i should have done was started out eating mild meat products, like chicken broth and such.  apparantly if you ease yourself back into it you're less likely to get very sick.  you will most likely still have some problems with digestion at first, but you probably won't be throwing up like crazy.  save beef for last, because it will do a number on you.

    anyway, that being said.....

please don't give up being a pescetarian....in fact, you might want to consider being a vegetarian!  not eating meat is the single most effective thing we can do for the environment, it is healthier, and you're saving the lives of about 100 animals per year.  i hope your parents wouldn't ask you to give up something that is obviously so wonderful!!

Neither a pescetarian, vegetarian or vegan. I have all the credentials to answer your question.

  5. If you don't want to, why would you have to?

It could be due to the higher levels of fat, so eating leaner cuts of meat in smaller portions might help.  Otherwise, unless the only thing available is meat, there are usually alternatives, like eating a couple of side dishes or salads.  Maybe you could explain to the people in this forum why you would be obligated to eat meat so it could help address the root of the problem.  I don't advise that anyone eats food that makes him/her sick.  That in and of itself is an excusable reason to absolve you from being obligated.

Do you think lactose intolerant people should feel guilty about their condition? I don't.  And I wouldn't force someone to eat something I made with dairy in that situation either.

Family can be a tough obstacle.  I think the best thing to do is just pull your mom aside and ask her if she can cook one or two meatless side dishes.  If they insist you eat meat, let them know it will take a while for your stomach to get used to it.  Then I suggest you secretly feed the majority of it to your dog.

  6. Unless you really pig-out on meat, you can eat anything you used to. Your digestive system has not changed in any drastic way. If you want to play it really safe, try to avoid visible fat, and you should be fine.

  7. This question does not belong here.  A pescetarian is not any sort of vegetarian and vegetarians are not going to know how you can eat meat with or without getting sick.

  8. In the V&V section who is going to want to encourage you to eat meat?

  9. Fish is still meat, not a scaly veggie with gills and a tail. But why would you even want to do that to your body?

I wouldn't worry about it. No one can make you do anything you don't want to do. Not even parents. So you have to take responsibility for your choices. If you don't want to get sick -- don't eat animals. Simple.
