i'm on a 2000 cal/day diet im 5'9" and 32. i run then jog and run then jog for 6 miles a day(equal amounts of running and jogging). my legs are still sore but not as bad. i just don't see results on the scale that i would expect. could it just be muscles building in my legs? another thing, does ice just help w/ leg pain only or does it help them heal faster?

  1. ok so exercising usually takes some time to actually see number results. you might even gain weight but look more toned (which would be better) because muscle weighs more than fat. make sure the 2000 cals you're getting each day is coming from nutrient dense foods and not junk. i know that is kind of obvious but some people think just lowering their cal intake is going to do the trick, but it's really that foods you're eating. lots of fruits veggies and water!

ice numbs the pain. when you exercise, lactic acid builds up in your muscles (which is why your legs are sore). the best thing to do is stretch. massages sometimes help me. also, as much as it hurts, when you get your muscles warm again the day after you exercise by going for a walk or doing light exercise, it can help the soreness

  2. it usually takes about 3-4 weeks for muscles to build up and recover. you will see gradual improvement if you continuously work out and increase workout when comfortable. if the soreness is going away, that's improvement on its own. once you do not get sore on that workout, you should increase its intensity. be patient and stay confident, you will see improvements. ice will help the blood flow smother in your veins. you see when you run, your body tends to swell up--the ice helps this. the best the blood flow, the faster you will recover. good job keep it up.
