  1. It depends why they suspect insurance fraud. Are you a dealership, repair shop or are you an individual? Are all of these vehicles owned by you? What were the circumstances surrounding the loss?

Most auto insurance policies have a clause stating that an insurer must pay any monies liable within 'x' number of days (usually 60) of receiving a signed proof of loss. So if you want to force their hand a little you could ask for a blank proof of loss, fill it out, sign it and send it by registered mail. Within 'x' number of days the insurer will be either forced to pay the claim or deny the claim. The reason why is, say the policy wordings state they must pay within 60 days of receiving the proof of loss, if they waited until 65 days to finally pay the claim they are in breach of contract and can be sued. So if after 60 days they haven't paid then it stands to reason they will have to deny the claim. At the very least knowing your claim will be denied will allow you to take the next step rather than waiting in limbo. So grab your policy wordings and start reading!

  2. It can take a very, very long time.  If the company is making progress on their investigation, they can keep delaying.
