I bought a beerstein and its marked Western Germany. It says " I HAB DI GAR SO GERN" and " I MAG DI LEIDEN " and it has a man and a woman on it and a house and a ram on a hill. And it also has the numbers 1202 underneath the handle. It also has no lid. So can anyone translate those sentences and give me info on the Beerstein?

  1. Sorry, I can't give you further info on the beer stein, but I can translate what it means since I am German. Both sentences basically mean the exact same thing (just worded differently). It is written in the Bavarian dialect. The first sentence means "I like you a lot" and the second one means "I like you".

Since the word "western" Germany no longer exists due to the east and west being reunited, I assume you purchased the beer stein used or perhaps from a person who had it for many years. Hopefully someone on this site can tell you what the numbers 1202 mean.
