Question:

Before 9 pm, please post for tips for sleep?

I often wonder why at 1 am the majority of the questions posted are 1.) How can I get a good night sleep or 2.) I'm so depressed I can't get to sleep? If you want to get sleep earlier, shouldn't you work out or quit snacking or something that will not get you amped out???

  1. Drink catnip tea.or  Sleepy Time Tea

    Pray in bed

    Read the Psalms

    Listen to one of those CD's that are for relaxing like Thunderstorms,   Ocean Waves or something like that.

    Listen to calm classical music or instrumental music.

    Drink a glass of warm millk and eat a piece of toast.

    Try any one of these things and I think one or more of them will help.


  2. Here is a wierd answer.

    Put your feet together and close your eyes.  Which way do you sway?  if you fall to the right swing that arm in a circle.  repeat until you no longer sway.  This may help a person shut down to noise in the mind and allow you to sleep.  

    Another answer is you have cycles of sleep.  some say you need to go to bed at 9 or you can not sleep till 1 am or so.

  4. TV helps some people and not others.  Try which ever you are not doing.

    Drink a warm drink - milk (it works)

    Take Valerian - it works; check for side effects and if on medications

    Read a boring book or a taping of one of my unit meetings

    Soft, classical music

    Take a warm soak in the tub

    Make love

    Lie your head on your husband's or wife's shoulder

    Pray to God
