When I am on the phone talking to someone, I don't really pay attention to another line getting into my conversation because I believe that I should first finish talking to the person I am talking to especially if I am the one who called first. A lot of people complain about me. Though I call them back once I am done talking. I know some people say "please let me check the other line" I hate that.

Do you think that what I am doing is wrong and that I should answer the incoming calls no matter what, Or should I keep my policy of respecting to the one I am talking to first.

  1. well i know people that do that and its frankly rather annoying

i think its a little disrespectful tp people who take the time to call you...a "but they were here first" policy isnt really a charitable one...it doesnt matter when people call, giving them the courtesy of saying "i'll call you back, i'm on the other line" is more polite and makes them more likely to call you in the future

this is just what people on the other end might feel though

however, if youre on the phone seriously discussing work or your relationship status and your friend calls about the movies or something, than the first call obviously takes priority

    its about moderation, really...

but you have to make the choice and assess which calls seem important

its not like you're hanging up on the first person, youre xcusing yourself to get rid of the second...but at least TELLING them why you cant talk

  2. no!!! you are right!

its called telephone etiquette......or in plain English manners...not many ppl seems to have anymore..

  3. That is much respect UNLESS it is your girlfriend/boyfriend calling and you are actually avoiding her call expecially to talk to someone else! *smile* have a great day!
