I have an electric guitar and amplifier. I am getting horrible buzzing from the amp, that goes away when I touch anything metal on my guitar or amp, like the casing screws. I have found out from others this is a grounding problem and that my amp is not earthed.
Now my problem is with the electric issues, apparently my amp is NOT earthed/grounded so I need to ground it.
The plug I got with my amp looks like this:

I live in South Africa and no wall sockets will work with the plug. I'm told that hole above the prongs is an earth.
So I bought this adapter:

I plugged the black amp plug into the grey adapter and the adapter into the wall socket. As you can see in the pic, there is no prong on the grey adapter that can go into the hole in the black plug. This isn't earthed is it???
What I want to do is take a piece of wire and attach it around the thickest prong on the grey adapter (which is the earth) and attach the other end of the wire onto any metal part of my amp, like the s***w. I'm told this will earth my amp and make the buzzing go away.
THE BIG QUESTION... this won't blow up my amp or cause a surge or anything will it?
PS: I know this is long but I've seriously been stressing about this all day. All the shops are closed, there aren't any nearby music shops.
