And also...who would you say is currently the best 3-4-5 hitter set?

I'd say the best 3-4-5 hitters right now play for the St. Louis Cardnials

Pujols-Ludwick-Ankiel

Pujols     (.347 Avg 24 HR 75 RBI)

Ludwick (.306 Avg 29 HR 84 RBI)

Ankiel     (.286 Avg 22 HR 61 RBI)

They where a very good 3-4-5 hitter set. I think Sox management made a mistake not waiting to get rid of Ramirez till the end of the season.

b) Tejada ,Berkman and Carlos Lee

I think my team's 3-4-5 was pretty freaking good as well while people were healthy. Chipper Jones - Mark Teixeira - Brian McCann

I mean, Chipper is hitting .370 because of it...

Those 3 are a pretty freaking good 3-4-5 as well...

Now Tex is gone, so now both of these 3-4-5 combos have been destroyed.

i would believe that and not just cuz im a sox fan, but i mean u got papi and manny who are probably in the top 5 hitters in the league and mike lowell who had more than 120 RBIs or more last season and the world series MVP.

so yea i they were, but right now i would say Pujols (.347 Avg 24 HR 75 RBI) Ludwick (.306 Avg 29 HR 84 RBI) and Ankiel (.286 Avg 22 HR 61 RBI). thats just a great 3-4-5.

but kinda off topic a little but if manny was staying the rest of the year with us, i dont think we wouldve made the playoffs, he was just bringing the whole teams chemistry down

Before Carlos Lee got hurt, Houston was pretty good with..

Miguel Tejada (12 HR, 52 RBI, .283 BA)

Lance Berkman (23 HR, 79 RBI, .332 BA)

Carlos Lee (28 HR, 100 RBI, .314 BA)

and you can add Hunter Pence (16 HR, 59 RBI, .267 BA) at #6.

The White Sox aren't too bad with Quentin (32, 90, .284), Dye (27, 70, .300) and Thome (24, 68, .255).

Actually, before the Manny trade, I would have said they had not only the best 3-4-5 hitters, but the best 2-3-4-5 hitters.



Add in Pedroia and what he has been doing this year and you will find there is little arguement against the BoSox (old) combo.



Jason Bay is no slouch either though....

I would say they were, at least in the AL. The Abreau, A-Rod, Giambi, Jeter, Matsui combos can be good as well, although they never really seem to go on prolonged hot streaks at the same time. Although Rollins, Utley, and Howard aren't in the lineup in the 3-4-5 spots, they may be the most versatile and dangerous combo in the MLB right now (but also have consistency issues).

With Ortiz ahead of Manny, pitchers were forced to give him something to hit and hoped it would just be a ground out to short right field (aka second base). And with the year Lowell had last year, they couldn't pitch around Manny either. But now we see that this offense can be very inconsistent while they try to find some blend that works well.

No, David Ortiz was hurt earlier in the year and is having a slow year. Other than that, they were one of the best, but not necessarily the best.

Right now, I would say Chase Utley, Ryan Howard, and Pat Burrell are the top 3-4-5 hitter set.

Currently the Angels with Teixiera, Vladdy and Torii Hunter are the best 3-4-5. I would say the Red Sox were the best before the trade.
