  1. If you are an Indian.

    --------------------------

As far as Singapore is concerned,

You get your work permit in advance from the Ministry of Manpower.  Your employer will process the application.

The consulate in India issues an entry Visa.

Upon reaching Singapore you get your work permit endorsed in your passport.

If your employer finds you unsuitable for the job, he can always send you back.

    So also Malysia.

    Gulf Countries:

    ____________

Employers or Employers' agencies in India bring bulk visas

for various category of workers.  They select people

by interviewing them in India.  They can enter the Gulf Countries with the visas.  Work permits are issued once you reach your destination.

USA/ UK/Australia/ --  Visa officers interview you. If satisfied you get your relevant work permit & or entry permit  in India itself

  2. I hate when this happen.

You can get a work permit from your destination country embassy in (I'm assuming you're from the U.S.) the U.S. You just need to do some research on where they're located in the state.

However, to get a work permit, you have to have a job in the destination country. I know, it's messed up. Usually it works the other way around: first you need to get accepted in a workplace, and then before you start working, you ask your employer for a letter saying that you got accepted there. And then you bring that letter to the embassy and ask for a work permit.

  3. you get a work permit when you get a job offer from a company. seeing as to how this company is asking you for a work permit in order to attend an interview... it usually means they prefer to hire people that are already in the country with work permits. they probably do not want to have to petition for a work visa. it is a lot of money for a company to do that.

  4. if you get a job in any country? such as the US or any other country? you must have a job offer first, the USCIS will check if it is genuine, or wherever you are going?

the usual procedure? is that your employer helps you with the visa procedures, and does get the visa for you, depending on where you are going?  which country?
