  1. No food or water after 12 am the night before. They shoulve already told you this .

  2. I don't know anything about dogs but I do know a good amount about general anesthesia. 24 hours before people go under general anesthesia you are not aloud to eat or drink. You could regurgitate your food and choke to death (since your muscles are relaxed nothing is holding the food and liquids in your stomach in your stomach). Your vet should tell you specific directions but if not call his or her office and find out.

  3. Nope, nothing after 9PM the night before. They should tell you that when you make the appointment.

  4. They usually say nothing after 12 midnight the night before surgery.

  5. NO.

no food or drink after midnight

  6. My dog wasn't allowed to eat for 12 hours and was allowed water.

So call your vet and ask this...just to be safe.

  7. When I got my baby spayed, they told me no food or drink for 12 hours before we brought her in. (We brought her in at 8 am, so she couldn't eat or drink after 8 pm the night before). I am assuming it is the same for males. Didn't your vet give you these instructions?

  8. Your VET will give you all the particulars you need to know.  All you have to do is set the date.  :o)

Pilot was not given any food or drink after 12midnight.

  9. the vet will give you directions on whether or not to provide food or water.

Ussually if you are instructed to put food up after a certain time the night before you bring him in.. then, no .. DO NOT give your dog anything!  The point is that the dog needs an empty stomache.. if he has anything in his belly during surgury, he could vomit and choke on it, or aspirate it, which could cause respitory infection or pnemonia.

Your dog will not dehydrate.. the vet will most likely give some IV fluids, and your dog will be offered a small amount of water upon waking.

  10. You should really discuss this with your vet. didn't he/she give you any directions?

  11. Your dog should not be given any food or water after midnight if he is going in tomorrow.

I congratulate you for your responsibility to neuter your pet in order to reduce the overpopulation of animals in today's society.

  12. Your vet really should've told you.  I believe when my pup was neutered, he wasn't allowed food or water after 10 p.m. the night before.  You need to check with your vet to be sure, it's been a while since I had this done but I believe that was what I was told.

  13. They usually say nothing after 12 midnight, the night before surgery.

  14. Your Vet should tell you everything you need to know.

Usually the night no food or water.
