Before the NASCAR race?

I was listening to the radio and a NASCAR race came on. They had someone say a prayer before the race. I was wondering if that is common or just a couple of races? If it is common is there a certain type of religion that NASCAR uses for the prayers?

  1. they always say a prayer before a race..... they want to pray over the drivers and fans and family....also the troops....


  2. someone always says a prayer before the race starts, then the national anthem is sung, then the command to start engines is said. i believe it's always been christian.

  3. That have an invocation prior to every NASCAR event, all series.  They don't have a specific religion- it is always Christian though.

    *rolls eyes*  Specific as in Catholic, Baptist, Methodist, etc...

    Shakes Head. Catholic, Baptist, Methodist, etc...are not religions. They are movements of the Christian religion. Have you ever heard of the Methodist religion??

  5. Yes, they pray before every race. It is one of the few sports that do. They pray to god if that helps describe the religion.
