  1. Before the big bang, there just may have been a *lot* of things.  Brane theory (M-theory) is one area where the thinking is that our universe may just be one small bubble in a sea of universes in a multi-verse.  It is, of course, one of many theories.

If true, some universes may not support life - if the multi-verse consists of 11 dimensions, it is possible for a universe to have more than our 3 - which would make stable orbits for planets impossible.

In any case, I've a few URLs for you (gad, with my new computer and nothing bookmarked .... it took a few minutes LOL).

There are more, but I don't think throwing more URLs is going to help LOL.

This is just one of many theories.  Quite honestly, 50 years from now, I'm not going to care .....

    Best regards,

    Jim

  2. I think it is misleading to think of "blank space" because, as you say, that's *something*.  So I believe the better view is that there was no "before."  No space.  No time.  This is a disturbing thought if you can latch on to it for a second.  It is also alien to everything we understand.  That's because all the things we know are contained within or preceded by something else.  As counter-intuitive as it may be, the universe is the one thing that doesn't follow that principle.

  3. there was never black space, its a very misleading question with too many possible answers, which quite honestly I dont have time to type out, but let me say that before the big bang, what triggered it, there is always something, even mi nute which in turn starts something bigger, then bigger, until the big bang

  4. I like to think of it like that...a 'blank space'. This is something man kind will never beable to understand. We go back in time

    evolution

the first creature on earth, which was in the sea.

the creation of the earth(along with all the gases the formations and the ocean)

    the moon

all the other planets being made

    the stars (Including the Sun)

    space itself

    then what??

Well if u believe in God(which i do) You will say God made sapce.

    But who made God

So the big Bang just leads to a more difficult question.

Where did the universe come from?

    another question is

How where the living organisms made?(i know from God but how did HE do it)

Since we have no information on what has happened be4 we were here, including animals as we, we can't track anything down..simply all we can say is , before the big bang, there wasznt time or space.

All there was was........................................ ........................................... ...........................................

  5. it's like what came first the chicken or the egg we don't know and astronomer predict the big bang it might not of happened

  6. This is where Eastern thought comes in handy. Before the Big Bang there was one and only one, a singularity.

Duality is what allows the universe to exist. Time/space, yin/yang.

What did the Buddhist say to the hot dog vendor? Make me ONE with everything  ;=)

We could trancend time and space...if only.

  7. The was no "before" the Big Bang.  The concept of something "outside" the universe is inherently meaningless because the universe is a self-contained phenomenon.

The beginning of time was the first moment.  There was no "before" it.  Try thinking of it this way: what is directly north of the North Pole?

There is nothing north of it.  The question can't be answered because it's based on flawed reasoning.  The beginning of time is the same way.  There was nothing before it.

    Addendum:

A little something to thing about: while asking *what* caused the universe to exist is meaningless (because it was never created; it has *always* existed), asking *why* the universe exists rather than it *not* existing is a much more interesting question, and the answer is much more interesting as well...

  8. The Big Bang theory only explains what happens to a universe that begins very hot and dense, and is allowed to expand while cooling.  It does not tell us what (if anything) could have been there before.

Equations from Relativity (a theory separate from the Big Bang) appear to show that time itself does not exist when mass does not exist.

Therefore, to ask what was there "before" the start of the Big Bang might be an unanswerable question, because there was simply no "before", before the start.

  9. space and time are related to one another intimately, hence the term Spacetime.  The "fabric" of spacetime did not exist before the Big Bang to the best of my understanding.  Give a big hand to God, he managed to put something into nowhere in an awesome explosion that carried in it all the power to create all that is in the Universe, all matter and all energy, and in less time than it takes to blink your eye.

  10. Blank space is what the universe is made of.

Before that there was a simple finite potential.

If it hadn't been finite it couldn't have triggered into the universe we see today.

  11. Those that believe in the Big Bang believe that both Time AND Space flashed into existence at that moment. It's hard to visualize or accept, I know, but space-time was all wrapped up in itself and nothing outside of the singularity existed, including time! The Bang was the first "thing" to ever exist!

  12. There is no way to understand what was before the big bang. Space is defined by matter. There was no matter so there was no space. It is undefined. Like dividing by zero - there is no way to answer.

We can go backward in time all the way to the point just after the big bang. When the universe was smaller than a grain of salt. At time > 0.

At time = 0 and before we cannot say what was because there were no physics yet. There were no mathematics yet. There were no words yet. So we cannot describe it - yet.

  13. Try to imagine an infinite and absolute void -- no energy, no mass, no space, no time. If you can imagine that (and who can?) that's your answer.

  14. the space is just dark matter that scientist dont know what is made of..... the BIG BANG THEORY is when the dark matters matter and neclus form creating a massive explosion of dust which circulated into palnets....so simply space is just dark matter that goes on forever or u could believe in god and that changes the whole story
