Question:

Before you go/went into labor-did you shave?

I was reading something on babytalk.com and it said women go get waxes before birth-or just shave it all off.

What I wonder is how do you shave around the belly?

Im 31.2 weeks and find it hard to shave my legs-much less that!!

How did you girls manage shaving throughout late pregnancy?

And when you were preparing for birth-was the "down there" hair an issue?

(me- i like to keep everything clean- but getting rounder-its alot harder)

TIPS/ADVICE/INPUT all WELCOME.

  1. if you don't shave they will rub you down there with an antibacterial/viral liquid, so it really doesn't matter.

  2. LOL!!! I cant even see my feet, let alone down there to shave it. I  might cut something off I need.....HA!! I don't know, Maybe just leave it, or use clippers just to trim it up short. A mirror might work too! Good luck, if you find a good way, enlighten me!

  3. idk how you will shave because im already starting to not be able to see there. but i can still shave, so i can imagine how difficult it is now. u can get a wax

its painful but quick and birth willl be 20x worse anyway.

but i was told that the doctor shaves some off or something like that anyway so ur better off doing it.. than a doctor

  4. have your guy do it

  5. I'm 29 weeks and did it a few weeks ago and it was difficult but worth it I finally felt cleaner I hate having hair down their lol. I already have huge bump lol so I cant see down their so I just feel around. For the front I use a regular woman razor but for the other part I use Noxzema Bikini Shaver is little small razor and its way more easy to control. It was hard for me to keep doing while standing up. So I sat on toilet spread them lol and felt around shave little then went shower rinse and repeat going back and forth. I was super careful about taking slow because I didn't want slip or anything. It wasn't perfect but I manage get most.

  6. I shave on a regular basis, so will probably be shaved at the time of delivery too.  I know it sounds like an awkward position, but you can shave from behind.  Its easier as your belly gets bigger and you can get the hang of it quickly

You could get a wax, but since there is so much more bloodflow in that area you have a higher risk of bleeding, and much more pain

  7. I dont know how I did it, but I did.  It was hard and very uncomfortable.  Sometimes I'd get hubby to help me.  I shaved before I had my baby but I knew I was going to have him because I was induced so I was ready.  After I had him and went to pee for the first time, I saw my shave job and it was awful.  There were patches that were long.  It was funny.  Dont worry, keep it up as long as you want, I think this time around I am going to wax to save myself the trouble.

  8. i shaved my whole 9 months  could not see it but i know it enough or i would lay a towel on the bed and let my husband take care of it!i just never liked hair down there and it itches so bad when it is growing back so i was clean shaved for the big day and now i am 4 months and still shave it..don't worry about it being harry!they see everything hair is the last thing they care about!

    congratulations

  9. There is no need to shave. If you want to shave or wax, then go right ahead.  But there is no need.  If they have to do a c section or anything, they will shave you while prepping.  But just keep clean, and if you want to shave, that is your choice, there is no need to though.

  10. im just 13w but im just like you. i want everything clean. i will shave as long as i can then get my boyfriend too lol yea right he wouldnt.

  11. Lol, i know where your coming from i am 33.5 weeks and i can't even see anything down there, but, i hate the messy hairy issue down there, so.. this might make me sound bad, but, i make my husband do it,lmao. Well he doesn't seem to mind that much but i figure he can help me out cause he isn't doing anything else, lol.

  12. If you have a C-section, they shave you.  I knew this, going in with baby number three, so I shaved (it freaks me out having someone else shave me there) beforehand and didn't have to have the nurses do it.  Some of it I did have to do blind, as my belly was absolutely huge, but to me, it was worth it.  At least until it started itching like crazy when it grew back!

  13. I absolutely did shave, but not all of it.  It's tough to do it around the big belly, so a mirror is helpful.  Part of this is because of self conciousness and vanity - but also, if you can get your husband to help and shave/cut it down really short (especially nearly your vaginal and bottom area, that will really help when you're healing and cleaning yourself after the fact.  I wouldn't get waxed as things are SO sensitive down there right now, don't you agree?  I imagine it would hurt like he**.

As soon as labor started and the contractions seemed 4 minutes apart regularly, I took a shower to see if the warm water would make the go away (ie is this false labor?) and used that time to tidy things up down there.

Big tip - get a good hand held mirror.

  14. haha i got my partner to do it for me as i couldnt even see down there, and it hurt the belly to do the legs so he also done that for me as well.

i had a c section but they still see everything so i made sure everything was gone before i went in.

not sure about the start of your question tho, are you wanting to shave your belly or have i misread it lol

  15. I somehow managed to shave "my area" the whole nine months. I'm sure it doesn't look pretty, lol but I just lifted my tummy a little and went at it. Good luck!

  16. lol thank you so much for asking this cause i was wondering it too i usualy shave but havnt for months cause im getting big and wasnt sure if u can but now im going to cause i feel so gross lol

  17. i didnt shave ans there was no need to my husband shaved my legs for me though

  18. When I had my son I did not. I am now 36 weeks pregnant and yes I am going to shave b4 going.. This may be TMI but, after having the baby you are going to bleed and I think it's gross to have all that hair down there and be bleeding at the same time.

  19. i didnt shave for any 3 of my births. i figured that since the begining of woman giving birth, drs and midwives have been seing hairy whohaas!! so i knew they wouldnt be shocked or say "i cant believe she didnt shave it!"

i did think about it though, but like you said i couldnt see anything and might cut off something i need later! so i went with better safe than sorry.
