got a poster in mail box asking for any old clothing,blankets sheets etc to help third world poor.from SHC COLLECTIONS LTD reg.No.06437255.e-mail;shccollections@ho... find anything about them on net.are they a charity or is this a scam/cheats?

  1. Sort of, depends on your opinion.

    What they do is collect clothes, sort out the best ones and then sell them abroad in poorer countries.

    It is a commercial concern but they donate a very small amount to charity so that they can register as one.

    They do provide employment but the are in it to make money.

    My own opinion is that it would be better to donate to Oxfam or Save The Children


  2. They are a private concern whose ONLY interest is in making as much money for themselves on YOUR charity. In our North London area it is mostly the Poles who are working this scam.

  3. I do not give to any of these so called 'charities' as they are only in it to make money. Take any old clothing to the Salvation Army or charity shops.

  5. i've always been led to believe that the only genuine clothes collection charities are the ones that post a plastic bag through your door. They should have the charities logo on it.
