Beginner's FTP help!?

Okay, I know how to set up a web page using html, css and stuff but I've never used FTP.

I hear that you have to download something like FileZilla in order to use FTP, while some people say that if you're using Windows XP/Vista, you have to do something else. (By the way, I'm using VISTA :O)

I got someone to host me on their domian, and I got all my pages set up in html/css on my computer, but I don't know how to add them to my website. -_-;; I really don't know what to do right now. >.<

The only information I got from my hostess is:

I.P, Database Name, Database username, password, and some other stuff...

All I want to know is how to use FTP on Windows Vista, how to log in, and how to add/edit a page. PLEASE HELP ME!

  1. If you use Firefox as your browser, there is a free plug-in called FireFTP. It will walk you through your FTP connection process, and will store your information for future sessions.

FireFTP works on Vista and XP, so no problems there.

With IE, you can usually get to your ftp site by going to ftp.yourdomainhere.com (where yourdomainhere is actually where you want to go) and answering the prompts.

  2. To log into ftp just enter this in internet explorer: ftp://ip.address.goes.here

then, when a window pops up, enter your username and password
