  1. The two best ways would be to start out learning from a book, or a teacher. If you do start from a book, you'll want to probably get a teacher eventually. You can also get a how-to DVD. Start by learning the notes on each string and then work up to chords then barre chords. Hope I helped!

  2. Get a good beginner's book at the bookstore.  It doesn't have to be anything too technical either; just something like "Guitar For Dummies," or one of those -  they have those kinds of books for everything now, it's crazy.  They also have "Guitar Player's Handbook," a manual that prints a revision every few years or so.  There are a couple more like that too; just look in the Music section at your local bookstore.

After you learn some basic chords and fingerings, then you can start learning some easy, popular songs (at least how to "chord" them, if not how the pro's actually play them).

If you decide to keep playing as like a serious hobby or something like that, then at some point you might want to look into taking guitar lessons.  That gets a little pricy, but the one-on-one instruction with a professional guitar player is worth it, especially if you have a specific style you want to try to play.

    Good luck.  :)

  3. I used books by CVLS at www.cvls.com they have a great books that come with audio cds so that you can hear if what you're playing is right. I recommened there guitar products highly.

HOpe that helps  feel free to contact me if you have anymore questions

  4. First, you should get a good teacher who is into the music you like/ want to learn (very important) and then when you feel you are good enough to read chord progression / tabs you can leave lessons or stay in if thats more comfortable for you  but then you can buy tablature books or go online. but realize those are not always correct so you wil have to fool around with it. When you get very used to the neck and what sound comes where you could learn to play by ear

  5. first, i started with a begginers guitar book. then i started learning chords from a chord chart i bought. then i started learning easy songs. and then harder songs and etc.

i'd reconmend you to learn chords, scales and notes on a guitar when your starting out.

check out this site, its a free guitar lesson site, and the guy who runs the site has some great youtube vids!

  6. Best way to learn, hands down, is with private lessons. There's no question about it. :-) You can use books and the internet as references, or use them while you're in search of a teacher.
