Beginner Knitter?

Question

I really want to knit my dog a sweater. But, for starters, I have no clue how to knit.

#1. What are the basic tools I need?

#2. Do you know any clear, instructional tutorial videos I could watch?

#3. Could you find any dog templates (or whatever they call it) to follow while I am knitting?
