Question:

Beginner Programming Language

What would be a good beginner programming language? I know of quite a few, but that's irrelevant--I only know their names. I want to learn a programming language that would be at least moderately useful (ideally not Javascript), and I hear that Python is fairly simple to learn but not very good for a newcomer to programming languages.

If you provide some good beginner resources for a good beginner language that I decide to at least try out, best answer for you.

(For the special people, HTML and CSS don't count as programming languages)
