Beginner diving tips?

i'm gonna start learning how to dive (springboard diving) this winter.....i never dove before but i was in the gymnastics team few years ago but i'm not that flexible anymore so i wanna ask is there any tips for beginner diver before learning how to dive??? thanks

  1. Listen to your coach, they will be able to guide you into doing things correctly.  If you are going for a new dive, just go for it- by doing it only half as well you put yourself at risk for disaster.  

    Don't over analyzethings- thinking too much will confuse you.  

    Check out videos on youtube to see the basics being taught by a great coach at Indiana university.  


  2. well....if it front dives you are looking to master, remember: you want to jump up and stay in the air in strait for a couple second and move your hand toward your feet and lift your feet out from under you...[for strait position] pike- just stay in the air with your hands grabbing your ankles or touching your toes. flip- to a nice hurdle off the board and go really high up in the air and throw your arms in and keep your head in

    if your scared of flopping use a rashguard...

    im sure your coach will explain inwards, backdives, etc.
