Next March my nephews and nieces (ages 4-7) are moving over by where I live and I agreed to babysit them, I asked them what they would like to do when they come see me and they want to start a garden. But I do not know how to start a garden or anything, can you guys list me some sites that are very helpful to start a small simple garden?

  1. Plan to start small.  Do you have a tiller, don't have to have one.  You can till the soil several times to get the grass out.

You can grow in containers in flower beds or on patios.

    Consider a source of water.

  2. If you'd like to try to grow your favorite root veggies like carrots, parsnips, rutabagas, turnips, etc. an easy way for a beginner is to use a container called a ROOTtub.

You can only appreciate the convenience this container provides if you've ever grown root veggies.  Normally, you'd have to get on your knees, dig arount the roots, carefully pull them out and hope none of the roots break.  It's a lot of back breaking work, and on a hot, humid day, I can think of more fun things to do.

Click on the FAQ section of this link to see how it works:

Good luck and have fun gardening!
