  1. Check out www.lionbrand.com they have great beginner patterns.  They have some really cute beginner patterns for baby blankets.

  2. www.about.com/knittingpatterns

or go to www.about.com and search for knitting. There is a forum that is full of invaluable information.

Dish cloths are fun and easy to make. Very portable.

  3. I think the Classic 4 Needle Mittens are wonderful for someone who is getting back into knitting.

You can do a child's mitten in an afternoon. It has everything. Using markers, increasing, stitch holders, picking up stitches.

These things keep the boredom, from doing the straight knitting.  You can put in a cable, or do a seed stitch, or do straight knitting.

What I used to do is make two sets. Because you will be making two to complete your project. Get two colors. Such as do a blue mitten, then a red mitten, then a blue mitten then a red. That way you won't get tired of staring at the same color.

    This is a url:  http://www.freevintageknitting.com/mitte...

Or you could do a search for classic 4 needle mittens.

What's nice is it's not a big project so you can bring it wherever you go.

  4. baby bootees, with matching hats and mittens. you can sell them on ebay after you  make them.

blankets are quite big, but easy

    baby jumpers and jackets
