Hi, I wanted to start up snowboarding. I have snowboarded on the "cheap kick-your-feet-in" snowboards, I was just wondering what would be a good snowboard for me not overally expensive but I am willing to spend some money beacuse I know I will like it becuse I've wanted to get in to it for a while, I'am 6'7" and 175 lbs and size 8-9 girls feet, if anyone one could help me out that would be awesome!!! also i stand with my left foot forward. (if thats any help)

  1. There are a few types of snowboards that you can consider:

Freestyle: Usually used in the pipe and park.  It has benefits of being able to be ridden both directions as both tips are similar.  Good for switch stance (fakie) and tricks.

Freeride: This is a directional board that can be used in the pipe but is best suited for cruising downhill, jumps, moguls and things.  It would typically not be ridden fakie.  Best for just cruising down different types of terrain.

Alpine: This is a hard boot racing style configuration.  Pretty specialized and really only designed for fast downhill.

  2. I recommend that you either rent a few different boards to get a better idea of what fits you best, or pick up a used snowboard from a garage sale, craigslist, ebay, etc that you can practice with.  Better to make all your mistakes (running into obstacles, etc.) on a used/rented board first.  I recommend a board that's somewhere around 159 to 163 cm in length.

  3. Rent, demo, or borrow a couple/few times and pay close attention to what you like or dislike about each board you ride.  This will give you an idea of what you're looking for.  There really is no way for us to tell you what board to get just off your height/weight.

    Borrowing is where it's at:-)

Once you figure out what you like in a board, come back and let us know and we can help you find a board according to your actual likes/dislikes.

  4. I'd get a snowboard in the 164 range. But there isn't many women's boards out there for a 6'7 woman. Being regular-footed doesn't mean anything. There are no right or left footed boards.

  5. get a teacher   no one can tell u onlin
