  1. Your best bet is to find a masters club and swim with them for a few months. That will give you a chance to work with a coach who will be able to help you develop a correct stroke.

Masters swimming is a lot of fun. There will be people from 19 to well into their 60's and beyond (your pool will vary).  Its not super competitive, but there are enough people to help push you and make practice go by a little faster and you will have that little extra bit of motivation to stick with it.

  2. If you know all four strokes, that's super great.

Start off with an hour workout or so and progress yourself to however long you want to be in the water.

A warm up of a 300 yd freestyle nice and smooth would be good.

Then maybe spend 10-15 minutes on each of the other strokes. Do some drills, work on technique. After that, work on some sprints- perhaps do three 50s of each stroke on an interval. If your pool is in yards, 50s on the minute should give you plenty of rest in between.

Do a warm down after your workout.

    Nice, easy, long strokes.

    Happy Swimming =)
