Question:

Beginner trombone silver plating?

I have a Bach beginner trombone. It's five years old and, despite the fact that I had all its dents taken out, it has numerous scratches and marks from the 5 years I've had it. I use it for Marching Band, so needless to say, those scratches are to be expected. Does Bach offer silver plating for these beginners' trombones, and if so, how much will it cost?

  1. plating for the main body of a trombone can be a time consuming and expensive. you gotta ask yourself if a student trombone is worth it. the best first step is to talk to a reputable instrument technician. a plating job may even change the sound of your instrument a little bit.

personally, if the horn plays well, i would leave it be & keep it for my "outside" horn. then i would put money toward a nice new horn.

last time i looked into re-plating a tbone it was estimated over $300,....
