Okay I was vegan a few years back but I didnt do my research for allot of food types and I'm going back to a vegan diet now. Are bagels and pizza without cheese vegan? I love my blueberry bagels from Panera and I dont usually eat pizza but someone told me yesterday that pizza dough isnt vegan. If they arent I wont hesitate to give them up though :)

  1. it depends on the bagel or dough. most is.

just ask i was at panera, and they were nice helping me getting a vegan lunch,

as for pizza dough, most is vegan, but not all. i know for a fact that dominos and papa johns is. im think that pizza hut is but don't hold it to me.

and bagel wise, lenders bagels at grocery stores are vegan, wheat is the best.

  2. your a psycho if you refuse to eat something just to call yourself a vegan its good so eeat it better yet why go back to vegan and torture yourself

  3. dough and bread are fine, it is just wheat and yeast and grains and stuff. just cheese is not okay for you.

  4. well im not sure about bagels, but as for the pizza dough if the craving hits try this:

    Pizza Dough

    Ingredients (use vegan versions):

4 cups flour (I generally use whole wheat)

        1 cup lukewarm water

        1 teaspoon salt

        1 package yeast

        2 teaspoons sugar

        3 tablespoons olive oil

    Directions:

Mix flour, sugar, and salt together.  Dissolve yeast in water and add to flour mixture.  Stir until dough has absorbed all water then add olive oil.  Mix until dough is not sticky, adding water or flour as necessary (should not need much of either using the above amounts).  Knead the dough for 8 to 10 minutes then place in a covered bowl in a warm draft free area for 30 minutes or until dough has doubled in size.  Then knead for 2 or 3 more minutes and let rise 20 minutes more.

Now roll the dough out.  The above recipe should make enough crust for one 16 deep dish pizza or two 16 regular pizzas. Either way, roll out two 16 crusts.  For deep dish, put the first one in the pan, then add tomato sauce, veggies, and tons of soy cheese.  Then place your second crust over this and pinch the two crusts together.  Add a top layer of tomato sauce and another ton of soy cheese.  Now cook in a hot oven ( 500 degrees or more) for 20-30 minutes.

  5. Actually all dough and bread are not fine.  A lot contain eggs and dairy products, plus whey, honey and shortening (unless it specifies vegetable shortening.

Also, Little Caesar's has vegan pizza crusts, and I'm pretty sure Pizza Hut and Domino's thin crust pizzas are vegan.  You may want to ask when you order though.

If you make your own, I love this super easy recipe from vegweb.com, I substitute whole wheat flour most of the time and it just turns out more dense, but still delicious:

    Ingredients:

    1 1/4 cup all-purpose flour

        1/2 cup lukewarm water

        1 tablespoon yeast

        1 teaspoon salt

2 tablespoons vegetable oil or melted margarine (both work fine)

    Directions:

Preheat oven 425 degrees.  Mix the yeast with the lukewarm water untill the yeast is disolved. Let it stand for a couple minutes. Add the salt and vegetable oil/melted margarine. Mix. Add the flour, and mix. Roll out the dough. Put it in the oven for 5 minutes. Take it out and rub margerine over it.  Add toppings, and cook for 10-15 more minutes.

    Serves: 1

    Preparation time: 20 min.

  6. Little ceasars dough is vegan & thier sauce. look on peta2.com, under the stuff, what to eat section. That will help alot!!

  7. Usually you have to check labels - you probably know that anything with added A & D vitamins can be derived from fish. Most dough doesn't contain animal products but it is always best to ask. It says here of Panera products you can check

(or you can make your own.)

There is a product called Cheezly which is vegan. It's dairy  - and also gluten - free. The company who make it do several varieties. Of course it's not exactly like cheese, but that's not the point.

    Hope this helps.
