  1. Start training...running, weight lifting...it will make you faster, stronger, and less winded so you'll enjoy the game much more!

  2. well

    1.listen to your coach

    2.play cleanly

    3.follow all rules

4.take  advantages when ever you can (your gonna need them)

5.get the corect style of cleats for faster speed

  3. Listen, respect, train, enjoy

  4. first of all educate yourself on the game...watch videos on youtube..watch a whole match and get to know everyones position...thats the most important thing above all is that you are a smart rugby player...know the rules and what happens in certain situations...read books like rugby for dummies. get yourself aquanted for to the game before you start playing...ask questions....second of all get your heart and legs into shape..they are the two most vital parts of the game...make sure you run to improve your stamina..i  recomend running 3 miles every other day...but apart from stamina your legs need ot be in shape...make them better legs by doing squats, plyometrics, ladder work, and lunges....make sure your legs are flexible and fit.....you need them more then anything....lastly go out an play......by then y should be able to keep up and merely ask questions and clarify. The most important aspect of actual rugby practice is technque..its everything so make sure you are doing it right.

    hope this helps

    cheers

  5. SUPERB advice given so far. You don't say how old you re, or what position you are playing (if you are playing positional rugby that is.

I will add to the above the 3 basics of rugby that I coach (I am a WRU/RFU/IRB qualified coach)

    1. Get ball

    2. Go forward

    3. Score

Rugby is really that simple a game. the opposition can't score if you have the ball.

On a personal note, if you have not played before then you will struggle with #2 above. Most new players have a tendancy to run sideways avoiding contact. Don't worry it is not just you.

now this is the odd thing in rugby, the way NOT to get hurt is to run direct. YOU must learn to control the tackle area, if you are carrying, then make sure the defender tackles you where and when YOU want them to.  Mastering the contac area is a great skill, and once your coach gets you doing it, the game is great fun.

Lastly, you see the last word in the paragraph above, FUN! you MUSt enjoy the game, it is NOT war, it is all about fun first, winning second. If you enjoy what you are doing, you will do it better. if you are having fun then the wins WILL COME.

As was posted, listen to your coach.
