my son is 2 1/2 years old. He hasn't began potty training yet. I was just wandering when to encourage him to start. Any ideas when to? Or how to?

  1. right now the sooner the better especially since boys are harder to potty train then girls. besides he's almost three he'll be in pre k soon you dont want to send him to school not potty trained. and sorry no ideas on how to get him started though i guess make it fun and rewarding.

  2. Look for signs he is ready.  Hide when he poops(means he knows what he is doing), holding peepee when naked and peeing, or has an interest in others going potty. But when you think he is ready, buy some pullups, and take hom to the bathroom every hour. Good luck!

  3. I would start to encourage him now. Buy some cheap cheerio type cereal and toss a few in the toilet. Have him stand on a stool and tell him to pee pee on the cereal. That is how i potty trainedmy son and he got the biggest kick out of it. I also took him with me and my husband when either of us went potty so he could see how we did it.

  4. Set him on the pot but be careful he may be underweight and may slip right through!

    Hope that helped!

  5. When my son started waking with a dry diaper, I told him that Mommy and Daddy go potty on the toilet and when he wants to try he should tell me.  I researched and found a very sturdy stool with sides for the toilet so he could climb up on his own and feel very relaxed.  http://www.amazon.com/Elite-Child-Corpor...

This stool made all the difference and was well worth it.  Also putting toilet paper over the water stops splashes.  Hope this helps.

  6. let him see your hubby/bf do it first. let him copy him. be patient with him. don't worry, he'll eventually learn

  7. You can begin now, for he's probably began showing the signs. Whenever you notice that he's wetting himself, take him to the potty and explain what it's for. Everytime he makes it there, give him a reward. Hope this helps.

  8. From a mom who has three boys; they didn't start until 3 because they will let you know, you can't rush at all.

What  you can do is make a game out of it. First get some fruit loops because they have bright colors, then put a handful in the toilet, then tell your son that we are going to play a game but you must sink the purple ones first, then the green ones, etc. he would want to go to the bathroom all the time.

At home I would put regular underwear and if he has an accident, tell him that this will make you feel icky if you do not go to the bathroom.

    Must have paitence.

  9. encourage him now!

    just buy him pull ups
