I just started golfing. can you help me and tell me what things I need? I know I need a stand bag, and clubs, and tees, and balls. Am I missing anything?

And How much should I expect to pay for a decent set of clubs?

  1. Save yourself a lot of money, time and frustration listening to a lot of people with a lot of different ideas and what you should do. Listen to yourself..and what you want to do with your golf game.  How serious are you about really wanting to be a good golfer...or just teeing it up occasiionally or on a weekend.

Go by a golf shop...or golf course..and see a PGA golf professional who will be glad to help you with everything you need, including lessons. At a golf course, you'll have a range..a practice putting green...and perhaps even a chipping or sand bunker practice area.  This all helps to becoming a complete golfer. Not a hack!!

And, yes they do have beginner sets and clubs to start with...you can do all this in one stop, plus if you play golf at that club, then you'll have the pro to go back to if you want to take lessons and improve your game.  And the proper equipment is a no brainer.

  2. You are missing golf shoes. Golf cleats make a big difference.

Also some courses require you to wear a collared shirt and no jeans.

I just started last year and I can now break 90 sometimes.

    Here's how I did it:

    1. I got into a beginner's group lesson class, where they teach you everything about golf from the full swing, short game and rules.

    2. I got an annual pass on two executive courses and started playing more golf course golf.

    3. I quit going for Tiger Woods type shots and just punching out of the woods.

    4. I stopped playing from the blue tees.

    5. I worked on pitching, chipping, putting and sand shots.

    6. I bought a cheap Wal-Mart set of clubs ($100) and can now beat friends that bought fancy Pings and Taylor Made drivers.

    7. I fixed my slice (via lessons).

  3. a minimum of $250 dollars for a nice set. I recommend buying a nice set because if you are going to learn and buy a cheap set you are just going to buy a better set soon after. Also don't buy any expensive balls they will get lost in a hurry so save yourself the expense. After that just have fun and don't get fustrated or give up. good luck

  4. If your a beginner then you should spend $250-$500 in clubs. Don't buy anything fancy like Ping or Callaway. For bags you should get a Alien or Nike. Some stores offer very good deals on Nike bags which can run as high as $200 and as low as $80. For tees just buy some wooden ones that you can put in your bag. For balls try and find a good discount. Look for lesser name brands such as Noodle. Some of these balls are only $14 per dozen which is a great deal. You should also get a glove. Gloves are very important in the sense that they save you the hassle of getting blisters. You should also go to your local golf course and see if there lesson packages. Try and find a package with a good deal. Good luck and have fun.

  5. you might want to get a towel to clean your clubs between rounds, or between shots and a glove

  6. i just started golfing too at the begging of the summer. I payed 250 for my new set of clubs. you might also want a glove for your hand. You don't need it but you might want it. Yeah what the other guy said, don't get frustrated. I got frustrated wayyyyyyyyyyy tooooo much. i ended up not having thta much fun when i really sucked. Then when i expected i was going to do good i did. So just keep you confidence up and remember your just begging

  7. Yeah man you basically got everything nailed down and it depends like do you want to have a beginner's set or a pro set cause if your new you might want to start off with a beginner's set cause you dont want to start off with pro clubs.you might end up spending about 200-300$ at the most for a begginer's set...

    P.s good luck....
