Question:

Beginning kickboxing questions?

I'm considering taking a beginner's kickboxing class, but I'm not sure if I'm up for the challenge yet. Are there some physical things I should be able to do before beginning a class? For instance, should I be able to run a mile without stopping, or should I have some previous experience in martial arts?

Can anyone offer me any advice as to how to prep for this beginner's course? Thanks!

  1. In my honest opinion...Take up Muay Thai instead of Kickboxing. It is way more defensive, useful, and more lethal. It teaches you how to use your defense moves as offense moves also. You use the 8 limbs of your body. See if you can find a Muay Thai class, they will train you in everything you need to know and learn, they will get you in shape.

  2. just wear something comfortable to train and sweat in. a tshirt and shorts or track pants will be fine. and bring a water bottle.

also i would recomend you start stretching at home to gain flexibility/range of motion

  3. nope, as long as your not overweight you'll fit right in, it is a class right? so your going to have to run and all of that other stuff anyway
