  1. none that i know of, some local swimming baths actually do sessions for beginners

  2. As far as the requirements...

Basic Gear:  Some classes will require that you buy scuba quality mask, fins, and snorkel for the class.  Other classes will have equipment that you can use for the duration of the class.

Class Room:  You will learn the basic theories behind breathing compressed air at depth.  You will also learn how to plan a dive and what the equipment is.

Pool:  You will learn a variety of skills.  Some of the skills you can potentially use on every single dive (buoyancy, mask clearing, etc.).  Other skills are for an intorduction to concepts (like neutral buoyancy).  Some skills are self rescue techniques.   Some skills are "what if" type of skills to give you the confidence that you can complete them underwater.  There are also some swimming and treading requirements.

Open Water Dives:  You will go to a calm area to demonstrate to an instructor what you learned in the pool.  You won't do every skill that you learned in the pool, but you will do about 75% of them.

  3. The 2 steps that you would need to take are ... (in order)

    1/Enrol in a "Discover Scuba" session - http://www.padi.com/english/common/cours...

This will usually cost you around £25 or $50US, and covers the BASIC scuba components, theory etc; a taster of scuba.

2/Enrol in a Open Water Scuba Diver Course (or junior) -

    http://www.padi.com/padi/en/kd/openwater...

This will usally cost you around £250 or $500US, and will give you a licence to dive anywhere in the world up to 18 meters, and give you all the knowledge you need to do so.

    Happy Diving!

    PS.- ITS WORTH IT!!!
