Hello,

Having problems with a dvd from a handycam video recorder. Here's what's on the dvd when I right click and explore:

Video_RM

Video_RM(000001)

Video_RM(000002)

Video_TS

Video_TS

Video_01_0

Vts_01_1

What are these and why won't it play on my computer? Do I need to convert anything or burn it to another disc?

Many thanks and sorry ahead of time for ignorance!

  1. do you have real player? RM is real player's file.

  2. There is a guide about how to convert and burn video formats such as DivX, Xvid, AVI, WMV, MOV, VOB, MPEG, MP4, DV, 3GP, mkv, tivo to a standalone playable DVD with a few steps:

Also, you can try the other burn DVD software from here:

  3. Well, did the handycam come with any software to install?  I would hope that sony would include any sofware you would need!!  My guess is that the format is either AVHCD or MPEG2, both of which do not come standard with your computer.  So, check out the install disc that came with your camera.

Just FYI - one of my favorite video players is VLC, because it has played EVERYTHING that I have thrown at it.
