I am very interested in pursuing my education in the direction of behavior and psychiatric genetics. How would I go about obtaining a degree in this? What would be some schools that offer such programs, what kinds of work can you do in the field, etc...If you can help me out that would be awesome.

  1. Interesting choice of study.  I can only partially answer your question:

At the beginning of undergraduate study, there is little intermingling of different disciplines.  I would focus on a Biology degree with your concentration in Physiology and Genetics.  As electives, take Psychology (and in the upper year courses, brain and behaviour, cognition, and neuroscience).  Afterwards, it will be at the graduate school level that you might start to look for a professor that researches in this vein rather than looking at the university.  It is an unusual field you are choosing, so your choices might be limited.  Good luck!
