Behind every successful boxer there is a wife
In the ever-dynamic World of attraction and relationships, there is an old cliché, which claims that, "behind every successful man stands a woman".
Many women enjoy this statement as they get some credit for a man’s success. Partly their goal is to deflect attention from the fact that their husband goes out and achieves great things while she may spend a big chunk of her day at the salon or at the racket
club while “Guido” tutors her on her backhand.
However, this saying goes true with the great late British Cornish boxer, Bob Fitzsimmons. He was a tall, lanky, and explosive middleweight puncher. Fitzsimmons “The Freckled Wonder” was the most accurate and deadly hitter of his class. He was the first
boxer to become world champion in three-divisions, middleweight, light heavyweight, and heavyweight.
Fitzsimmons “Ruby Robert” and James J. Corbett were in action before a sparse crowd of 4,000 and in view of the Kinescope booth, creating the first ever film of a championship fight.
The long awaited contest was in the sixth round. This round was to see Gentleman Jim's version of the long count. Corbett's stiff left hook dropped Fitzsimmons to the canvas, on the way down, Fitz clutched Corbett's legs, and in the ensuing confusion referee,
Siler delayed starting the count. Corbett was to claim Fitzsimmons was down a full fifteen seconds.
Bob Fitzimmons was being defeated by his opponent, James J. Corbett in a World championship. He had bruises on his face and was badly injured.
But the intermission changed the whole scenario of the fight unbelievably. Fitzimmon’s wife, Rose was sitting on the ringside. Seeing the terrible losing condition of her husband, Rose, screamed louder than Fitzimmon’s trainer, "Hit the rib, Bo! Hit the
rib!". Fitzimmon followed his beloved wife’s instructions, and started hitting Corbett’s rib. Finally, Fitzimmon won by KO (Knockout) in round 14 in the deadly duel fight. "Thanks honey!" said Fitzimmon.
With that great victory, Robert Fitzsimmons had become the third Heavyweight Champion of the World.
That famous punch from Fitz had a tragic effect on Corbett’s father. Crushed by his son’s failure, the old man took up his gun and shot himself through the head.
Corbett was furious after the fight and had to be restrained. The blow ‘Fitz’ won the battle with, he claimed he had never heard of, despite making it somewhat of a secret weapon in his great arsenal.
He later expressed to a reporter: “Why, I just made a quick shift and came in with a left hook to his wind”, Fitz also said it was his wife’s advice that gave him the win. Later this fight became well known as the 'Solar Plexus Fight’.
Fitzimmons hit Corbett with his 'Solar Plexus' punch knocking him out. Corbett, who conveyed an astute knowledge of pugilism, weighed approximately 30 pounds more than Fitzimmons. The outcome is been considered one of the greatest upsets in sports history.
Fitzsimmons, who was already 33 when he beat Corbett, enjoyed the fruits the championship brought. He was not in serious action for 2 years, contempt with exhibitions and public appearances.
Hence, it is been proved with Fitzimmons’ victory that behind every successful man, there is always a supporting woman.
Behind every successful man,

There is a strong woman...An able assistant who sacrifices time and efforts,

For her home and husband...

Are you strong enough to be this woman?
