Hi, Need A Lot Of Help Here.

Got A New Sound System 'Behringer 3000' I Think Its Called.

I Need Some Idea Of Settings For Female Vocals Over Backing Music.

I Know Everyone Will Be Different And The Room Size And Number Of People Can All Change What Is Required But I Need Some Basic Ideas. Please Be Descriptive.

High, Mid, Low, For Example? Usually Have These At 3:00 o'clock

What Fx Are Good? - I Use Ambience FX, Or Reverb And Chorus.

Should I Have Surround On?

Ive Not Touched The Graphic Equalizer So Any Tips?

Also Whats The Difference In Flat And Boost On The Speakers? Will That Just Increase The Bass.

Please Just Be Descriptive And Any Advice Is Awesome.

Cheers.

Kris

P.s. The Microphone Cost Around £300 And Is A Top Quality Radio Microphone.

But We Sometimes Get A Tinny Sound?

  1. The tinny sound is usually caused by the high or mid EQ control on her vocal channel being set too high.  3 o'clock is probably too high.   The high and mid should be set to 12 o'clock pointing straight up to start.  The low control would be set to 9 o'clock (straight left).

Make sure the 7 band graphic eq are all set in the middle to start.   You might want to drop or cut the 63, 160 and 16k some.

A good sound engineer always cuts EQ to fix a problem first.  Boosting EQ is a last resort.

All that being said, you really need to not be afraid to experiment and use your own ears.  There really are no hard and fast rules on setting the EQ.

Add just enough effects so that you can hear a little bit.

The speakers may have a setting for vocals only (boost) or flat for music.

E-mail me if you have other specific questions.

That is a great powered mixer and you should have no trouble getting good sound from it.
