Question:

Beijing Olympics 2008 - Look what can happen when there is order...is that not better?

Here in Vancouver we have so many organizations and protesters that we can't get anything done. Sometimes an iron-hand is that way to get things done and get people in line. For China, it was an amazing showcase, they didn't want a few sour grapes to ruin the party so they got their army to "silence them". Now whats wrong with that?

  1. China has done a fantastic job to present to the world the best Olympics ever. We are bound to have a few sour grapes but that's the way of life. What 's human right  when  in certain ' free' countries the protesters muddle things up  and bring agony to the common people?  These innocent people have their rights too.

  2. protesters were there to crash the party, thats it

they could do it on their own time but they chose the olympics to get the exposure

  3. Agree with "Not_true".  Many people just post answers without knowing what they are really talking about. China has been a socialist country since 1949, ruled by a communist party. China has never been a state of communism.

Here is the definition of communism.

Beijing 2008 Olympic games is a great success. No question about it.

  4. Thats the view of communism

ur basically saying u support communism

Maybe its because I dont support communism

I believe people have right to protest

  5. I totally agree.  People should understand that protesting is okay.  However, protesting to ruin other people's party is NOT okay.  That is selfish and self-centered.

For those that said not allowing protesting is communism, then they don't understand what they are talking about.  It is authoritarian, not communism.  Protesting is okay, but it needs to pick a place and time to do it.

    Olympic just provides free coverage.

  6. That is wrong. People have a right to view their opinion. Nobody should suppress that. They don't have any right to do that.

If that is so appealing to you, why are you in Canada? Why not move to China?

  7. Well everyone has its view of politic system of China. But is there anyone think about that, China is the biggest country in the world and in the entire history, much more big than you ever thought. Any tiny problem for China will cause a disaster, for example, the year beginning falling snow, SARS if you still remember that. And 13 billion people living in one country shared one thoughts in just 50 years? It is just like Night of a thousand and one. So is there any wrong for Chinese government to show his strongest arm to secure the people who join the Olympic Games? Or do wo hope to see the events happened in Munich? So please give Chinese a little breath. They have done much better.

  8. china i think was just trying to set order so the olympics could continue. and u r sort of saying ur supporting communist.....which is sort of bad because it means ur basically "locked"

  9. Yikes!

    What's wrong with that?

There is nothing MORE wrong than that. The way you get rid of protests is that you create an atmosphere where people don't want to protest.. not destroy anyone that tries to. That is the backwardness of typical communist theory. In freer countries you are expected to lead by the power of your example, not the example of your power.

  10. absouletly nothing, nothing is wrong with that, the olympics is a time for the world to come together through sport and china did a fantastic job of making the olympics a great experience for everyone, protesters just ruin everything

  11. I am not a communist and I agree people should have freedom of speech BUT in an event of this magnitude I think China has done a magnificent job and have kept order.

The best athletes from 204 nations PLUS thousands of visitors from all over the world are all on their soil so security MUST be kept high. If anything happens to any one of them, China will be blamed for NOT providing enough order and security. So it's a catch 21. Either provide enough or not enough. It's the safety of the athletes and visitors that they are also trying to protect NOT just their own image.

China has made the right decision.

  12. Authoritarianism is not needed to do things successfully, this is proven through out history and several successful Olympics in thriving democracies.  While i do agree with measures to prevent some protesting activities during the games. Thee is no reason to imprison people for protesting, ban slogans from t shirts, censor the press or to let Taiwan use their own flag in the Olympics

  13. Agree completely, anyone who dares to protest in a way that causes even the tiniest bit of embarrassment to our glorious Chinese overlords must be smashed with an iron fist!  Destroyed, eradicated, pulverised I say!  They must learn to respect their masters!
