  1. Beijing Districts and Counties:

    Dongcheng District

    Xicheng District

    Xuanwu District

    Chongwen District

    Chaoyang District

    Haidian District

    Fengtai District

    Shijingshan District

    Mentougou District

    Fangshan District

    Tongzhou District

    Shunyi District

    Daxing District

    Pinggu District

    Miyun County

    Huairou District

    Yanqing County

    Changping District

Though Beijing by and large is one of the safest places yet the CBD (Central Business District) is the best bet.

Grocery stores are located throughout the city,,giants like WalMart,Carrefour have a significant presence all over the city along with 1000's smaller super/hyper markets.

There are no visable symptons of communism found around in Beijing atleast, the place is as good and affluent as any other city in Asia.

Beijing offers a lot of great eating places found all over.

  2. 1. Safe against what threat? Against the threat of pick-pockets, against terrorist attack? Against being hit by a car crossing the road? All these have different answers and different districts that you might consifer 'safer'.

    2. Donghuamen Night Market (off Wangfuijing) is a very popular spot for dinner. It has lots of little food stalls serving different types of food. Dongcheng District

    3. There are many grocery stores all over Beijing. No matter what district you are in there will be plenty near you.

    4. When people refer to Communist China it is a political reference rather than a economic one. They mean that the country is controlled by a single party called the Communist Party. China's economy, although not as unchecked by government as for example the US is certainly not communist. The government does own many companies in important sectors but they do also allow private wealth.
