Question:

Being Embarrassed For Other People?

by  |  earlier

The other day in a crowded room there was this girl who was up talking and she was obliviously making an absolute fool of herself and I caught myself getting embarrassed for her...

This has happened to me a few times before and I've heard of others doing it but why?

Does anyone else do this? What is the physchology behind this?

  1. It's called empathy. I do this too. Socially, we know that that girl is making a fool of herself, and we can see that she doesn't get it, and it stems from feeling horrid that she can't recognize her own foolishness, because it makes the rest of the group feel very awkward. It's more socially driven than psychologically driven, and frankly, I like having it. I use it to help people be more socially savvy.

  2. You're just empathetic to her situation. Nothing wrong with it. It's pretty normal. It just means you care about how people feel. I know because I do it too.

  3. I have had that happen to me too. I don't know why either.

  4. I feel the same way...don't know why:(

  5. It's a normal feeling.

  6. Yeah, like everyone else said, you're just really empathetic.  That's a good thing though, so don't worry.

This should help you understand yourself better.  It helped me understand who I am.  If you take this quiz please update and tell me what personality type you are.  I'm really interested in that sort of stuff.
