Have you ever tried to be the peacemaker or the optimist in a bad situation but it didn't work out (like Benvolio from ROMEO AND JULIET)?

Why does this seem to happen so often?

yeah, it's generally not a good idea. just stay out of it or they'll both get mad at u. i think it's because people need to have a good argument every now and then.
