  1. I wanted to be a zoologist when I was a kid! I have never become one, but love of nature and animals is alsway with me.

I don't know much about becoming a zoologist, but I could suggest you to read a few books by Gerald Durrell, a famous British naturalist.

  2. Zoology is the scientific study of animals and has nothing to do with learning to keep animals or working in a zoo. You will study all animal groups, inlcuding invertebrates, and learn about evolution, taxonomy, behaviour, ecology and a whole range of other things, depending on where you choose to study.

Here are some details from Edinburgh University, so you know what grades you need:

SQA Highers: BBBB(or more if two sittings). Two of Biology, Chemistry, Maths, Physics Higher; with Standard Grade Maths and Chemistry at grade 2.

Also, if you look at the following page, there is a little bit about the Edinburgh degree

What does being a zoologist itself actually entail? Well you probably need to do a PhD to get into research and the area you enter depends on your own interests. If you see yourself studying leopards on the Savannahs of Africa it will be hard work, getting a post as these sorts of jobs are very competitive.

  3. 5 C's and above at GCSE then go onto A-Levels and you need to go to Uni...

What grades you need depends on what Uni..

Well cleaning and caring for the animals....

    Feeding ect..

You will learn about animals temperament...ect

  4. i dont mean to be mean if that makes sense but zooology is very hard to get into, i wanted the exact same as you. my advice is to get your qualifications 5 gcses at a* to c grade then higher education such as uni. Then contact zoos and get information, arange visits with them if you can. they love keen people and they have many more contacts that maybe not many people know about. i included a link of some qualifications you need and what it involves but contact zoos. if you want to specialise for example in monkeys you would contact monkey world in doset fish an aquaruim (a large one maybe london). there is the monkey world website below aswell

    hope this helps

  5. Zoology is an incredibly broad science. You can do everything from genetics to conservation. Aberdeen University has an incredible zoology department, one of only 3 true zoology departments of British universities. I might be biased but I did my degree there, and there is an excellent employment record for their graduates. The jobs that you can do with a zoology really would depend on what options you select while you do your degree because everyone will take different options.
