  1. It really depends on the establishment. You might want to ask management about this before you begin. I say this because some places do not make the wait staff tip out the busboy at the end of the night. This is HUGE. You could make an extra twenty or more dollars per day this way. And usually, tips are made per day and are not received in a paycheck.

I'd ask right up front about your tips. There's no shame in asking because every restaurant does things differently. Good luck to you in your job!!

  2. Normally bussers get tipped out by the waitstaff at whatever percent the management establishes. Sometimes if you help out the bar staff they may give some money as well but you generally get your money that night.

  3. The waitresses you are assisting are supposed to share their tips with you at the end of the night.  I hope you get the nice waitresses, though, because some of them don't play fair when it comes to divvying up those tips.   I know this because I tried waitressing for a very short while (I wasn't very good at it).  Anyway, I thought the busboys just liked me or felt sorry for me because it seemed like I got the most help.  Nope, turns out I was the only waitress actually doling out the 20% the busboys were supposed to be getting.   Congratulations on landing your job.

  4. I've always known bussers to get paid at the end of a shift by the waiter/waitress. Some restaurants have a tip sharing concept whereby all bussers split the tips given by the wait staff. I don't really like this method because some bussers are better than others and really want to do a good job for the establishment, which in turn, rewards not only the busser's pocketbook, but maybe be noticed by a manager or told by the wait staff to the manager that you are a good worker. This could mean an advancement toward a better job in the future, not only in the restaurant, but for any good recommendations for jobs elsewhere. Good luck!
