I will be lookin after my son single handed and was going to return to work when he is 8 months (this is when my maternity allowance runs out)

I am now thinkin that i would like to become a childminder so that i do not have to send my son to a nursery/ childminder.

Any ideas how i would do this and wether it is necasary for me to be qualified in childcare?

  1. It is a good idea to do this. You dont have to be a qualified child care person however you will still need to meet certain criteria before being considered for the job. A first aid certificate is a must and completley child proofing your house is another requirement.

Can i suggest you contact your local child minding support agency who will beable to help you with all releveant paperwork. I am assuming you have some near by. Your local council should be able to help out as well.

On a more personal note please think about how you are going to feel looking after other children as well as your own. Will you freak out if they touch your son?> how will you deal with behaviour issues as you cannt spank other children (nor should you do your own). It is a massive move and you have to be willing and able to look after other peoples beloved ones as well as your own

I suggest you have a few trial days with friends kids and neighbours kids to see if thats what you really want to do. You shouldnt worry about sending your little one off to daycare they will learn lots and make many important milestones and friendships while they are there.

    Good Luck.

  2. i think its a good idea but first do you know thats what you want to do? i have a 9month old and was scared to send him to daycare so i have my family plan on who can watch him, so if you really want to go back to work plan out a schedule with your family and see what can take place because child care seem like something you dnt want to do yourself you just dnt want your child in childcare and by the time hes 1yrs old you will feel much comfortable to let him go to child care hey its only a couple months away

  3. wat is that

  4. you would have to take a few basic courses and be on a national registration but it's pretty simple to figure out.
