  1. First is how old are you?  Second   you must put in 10 years of serious work to become an expert at anything.  Fischer did it in chess, Woods in golf.   So if you want to be a professional then get going.  Get to your library and get every chess book you can find and start from there.  Become a member of the USCF and start playing in tournaments.

  2. There is a software package called CT ART that can teach you tactics.

  3. FORGET being a chess "professional" -- virtually nobody makes a living just playing chess. Even the players near the very top  like Susan Polgar, Pal Benko, Robert Byrne, have to supplement their income giving exhibitions, writing books, making instructional CDs, etc. Most of the time a player will become extremely good, only to find he/she cannot make a living at chess. A good example of this is Norman Weinstein, a top-notch player in the 70's who left chess for a regular job. Then there are players like Art Bisguier, another top-notcher always had a regular job. Donald Byrne was another great player who made his living as a college professor rather than a chessplayer.

To make a living at chess you have to be not just a grandmaster, but a SUPER-grandmaster like Bent Larsen. And there are very few of those obviously.

  4. There are thousands and thousands of free chess sites available online, that contain games, articles, instructions, etc.  All you have to do is use a search engine and look for them.

Google is a popular search engine.   (www.google.com)

    Note:  It's...

    professional, not proffesional

    Losing, not loosing

    Loser, not looser

  5. you have to go to vegas and practice chess/boxing, paying hookers, and living it up!

  6. get someone to pay you.  Seriously, that is what pro is.

  7. 1)" The complete idiots guide to chess" by Wolff, is a great book to learn the game. Reading and understanding that book alone increased my rating level hundreds of points.

    2) Gameknot.com is a very good chess site to play other people.

    3) like any game, the more you play, study, and think about it, the better you become.

    4) find someone who is good at it who is willing to spend some of their time teaching you game basics. (try your local chess club)

If by being a professional, you mean making a living from it, I don't think anyone really does that. The cash prizes for tournaments are usually small even for the greats of the chess world. The grandmasters usually make money from books on chess and teaching chess, or from whatever career they may also have.

  8. Losing is good learning from your mistakes is how you become a better Player.

  9. Join a chess club that plays at least weekly. Seriously.

  10. First, you need to join the US chess federation or the national federation of the country where you live if you are outside of the USA.  Then you need to get the advice of some playing pros.  Most will try to talk you out of it.  As noted above, you need to study for at least ten years.  The pay is marginal to say the least, unless you are at the top of the game.  Good Luck.

  11. I admire you already! do you know your IQ? I bet is high, maybe you can become member of MENSA, imagine that you could get a job anywhere, If I were you I will look into it. sorry I am not able to help you on that, just type in chest games on the search engine and,  Who-la there you have it, that is one thing people with high IQ lack, common sense.

  12. BLB is right, only way to be professional you must play many years.

    Go to http://www.chessgames.com/

And type in any chess players. This is a database.
