Being a psychiatrist in Germany.?

Could I be a psychiatrist in Germany if I have a medical degree from a school in the U.S or would I have to go to medical school in Germany in order to be a psychiatrist there?

  1. You would probably need to go to Germany for school


  2. As a psychiatrist in the USA you get certified with a degree from a board.  When you travel out of the place where you have that certificate, you must retake the certification exam to pratice in that country.

    Atleast, that is what I have always been told.

  3. You must go to medical school in germany. My mom and dad both had same problem. Both my parents are from Bremen,Germany and my mom had to go to medical school all over again here. my father is an engineer and he also had to do the same. its a pain in the ***

  4. I'm not 100% sure, but I know for a fact as far as teaching goes, such as a school teacher, if you have a 4 year degree you can travel overseas and teach at the schools overseas, such as in Germany/Russia, etc.

    So I'm pretty sure it's the same with being a psychiatrist is almost the same, after all you have more schooling then a school teacher would have
