Being an islamic country, how could Qatar host the Olympics in 2016?

Would they allow non-Muslin girls to show their legs, arms and hair during the competition or even among the spectators?

I dont think that is likely going to happen, due to their religion strictly rules. Is going to be somewhere in North America, probably Chicago, Houston or Mexico City.

Doha has already been eliminated from the final list of potential hosts.

They're not in the running for 2016. That field has already been narrowed down to four: Chicago, Madrid, Rio de Janeiro, and Tokyo. The winning bid will be announced in October of 2009.

The earliest Qatar could host the games would be 2020, with the selection made in 2013.

first of all, Qatar isn't even in the running.  As a hypothetical I think they could but the IOC would have to have some very strong restrictions about the covering of women.  

Qatar is a very progressive islamic country, I think of all the islamic countries they would allow it.

It is exactly this sort of question which would make Qatar a great host! (No offence intended ).

There is so much cultural and religious misunderstanding between nations and the Olympics are the perfect vehicle to create greater global awareness.

The people representing Qatar would have thought long and hard before making their bid and the issue of athlete uniforms would no doubt have been considered! I am absolutely certain that they would not have placed themselves in a position to be embarrassed by such an issue.

By the way, I am not Muslim but I am staggered by the level of fear and ignorance that surrounds their every action and, again, I think the Olympics being held in a Muslim country could be the perfect counter balance to the lack of understanding that exists, in the same way that mainland China has probably become a more comprehensible society as a result of these Olympics.

At any rate, if Qatar cannot get 2016 I vote for Madrid!

obviously since they are applying to hist them they are gonna ALLOW women to do that...

what do u think, all uslim countries force women to cover hair or not show skin? its optional, its not a rule, if u have visited some muslim countries you would have seen women showing hair and skin in them...

you are only relying on over hyped media coverage, in reality its nothing like that.
