I just got out of jail this morning. I have 1 misdemenor case a month from now and 3 pending felony charges against me which may lead to court dates later.

Im trying to clean my life for good so what are some extra-curricular programs I can involve my self in to avoid bad people and decisions, and how would it affect my appearance in court? Im trying to kill a couple birds with one stone. Clean up my life for good, get right with my lord, win my misdemeanor case, and have all pending felony charges dropped.

So basically what are some programs I could check into that would not only help me re-constructing my life and bring me joy, but keep me out of prison and look good in a court of law

  1. If you have an alcohol or drug issue, especially if it's involved in your crimes (and it usually is), that's first priority. AA, NA, etc. Otherwise, if you're in a larger city, look for the food bank warehouse as a volunteer place. They need the help, and the management tends to be pretty well connected in the community.

  2. With the felony charges pending you can get some jail time. Funny how you suddenly want to clean up your act and try to look good when you go back to court! People who break the law get no sympathy from me. Laws are made to protect people from people like you.

  3. you could always do some volunteer work or something....

  4. One thought you won't like, but getting right with your Lord to me means taking responsibility for what I've done, not looking at how to get out of it.

Honestly, it sounds a lot more like you are looking to put on an act for the court, not truely take control of your life.

  5. Find out at your local church maybe? However, I think you'll still have to pay your "debt to society" for those pending charges you have... Once that all done with, you will be able to start your life all over again. You'll just have to stay away from your "old" friends, the troublemakers... Move to a different town, don't hang out on the streets, get involved in a community work, volunteer, and start making "positive" friends... Good luck to you!

  6. First, you never stated what your cases are about.  Although personal, they can mean good advice, and advice thrown in the air hoping it fits.  Since felonies, high chance even if doing good and changing life, you will still be convicted (even if dropped to misdeamoner).

Community Service provides a strong statement of helping others.  Soup kitchens, cleaning parks/highways, etc. is a great idea to show the courts how much you are changing your life...Also, try to schedule a date, mayb ewith a lawyer, to sit down with the judge and talk to him about your situation, or other court officials.

Find ways to plead your case, and show them that your life won't ever be the same.
